Wag #1: "Change is good." Wag #2: "OK then, you go first."
The Yoga Pioneers no longer accept credit cards or debit cards.
The backstory: in October 2015, the credit card processor TYP had been using abruptly informed us that they would now service food-and-drink establishments only, not retail businesses like TYP. This prompted us to investigate if the benefits of accepting credit cards justified the ever-increasing costs involved...and led to our decision not to do so any longer.
Here's why we feel good about going plastic-free, and believe you will also: it helps keep TYP's rates low for everyone in our community. All businesses that accept credit and debit cards have to pay "merchant services" companies to process these payments – at rates ranging from two to five percent of each purchase. Those extra, hidden costs must be passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices, which all of us pay whether or not we even use plastic ourselves.
Going forward, TYP will continue to accept these forms of payment:
- Personal checks
- Auto-pay (for participants in TYP's All Class and First Class plans)
And now, we’re happy to introduce our newest payment option…
If you are one of our valued clients who has paid TYP with plastic in the past, or are new to the studio, we invite you to consider setting up ePay On Demand, TYP’s FREE electronic debit service that lets you sign for any studio purchases you make.
Good to know: You are NOT authorizing any automatic or recurring payments by setting up your account for ePay on Demand. Your bank account will only be debited when you sign an ePay slip for a specific purchase. Nor are you obligated to use ePay On Demand; it’s merely a convenient option that lets you leave your wallet at home.
It’s easy to set up your account for ePay On Demand. Simply bring a voided check on your next visit to the studio, fill out a short form, and you’re all set.
Thanks for your continued support! We truly appreciate your business, and your being part of this wonderful Yoga Pioneers community.
